Ashlee Simpson is giving it all away.
And she isn’t mincing her words to do it. Because when it comes to the rumors that her sister Jessica Simpson has split from husband Eric Johnson, Ashlee was more than ready to set the record straight.
So when TMZ asked if there was any truth to the divorce rumors while she was on a walk with husband Evan Ross, Ashlee answered with a simple and succinct, “No.”
And she didn’t look back.
The clarification comes amid mounting speculation that Jessica and Eric—who tied the knot in 2014 and share daughters Maxwell, 12, Birdie, 5, and son Ace, 11—are calling are ending their marriage.
Not only has Jessica been seen out and about without her ring, but the accessory has also been conspicuously absent from many of her recent Instagram posts.
More conspicuously absent has been Eric. While the former NFL player is not on social media much himself, he’s often been featured on Jessica’s social accounts—until recently.
In fact, the last time Eric, 45, made an appearance on the “Irresistible” singer’s grid was in April, when Jessica, 44, shared a look at the family of five’s spring break trip and shared a belated Easter photo dump.
Additionally, some of her recent posts have caused fans to speculate in the comment sections that Jessica was soft launching her newly single life.
Not only did she share a look into a weekend of “self-love,” but most recently, Jessica shared a cryptic note in anticipation of releasing new music.
“Interviews in my Nashville music room where I unearthed my singular magic,” she captioned a Nov. 11 post. “This comeback is personal, it’s an apology to myself for putting up with everything I did not deserve.”
As one user wrote, “Is this j simp saying she’s single?”
But, according to Ashlee, all is well for the couple. After all, it takes a lot to undo a love which is the “greatest gift I will ever rest within until the end of time,” as Jessica wrote in 2021 to commemorate 11 years with Eric.
Or, as she wrote in celebration of Eric’s 44th birthday in September 2023, “My heart is so taken with this Man, I could hardly call it my own….”
A sentiment shared by her children, as well. As Jessica wrote below the photo of the family of five, “His family gave him all the love cells we have to celebrate his life.”
